CE/CME No CE/CME is provided by SCCM for this program.
What is the format of the test? The MCCKAP examination is presented as a four-hour, timed multiple-choice test with accompanying graphics, including diagnostic imaging, monitoring waveforms and photomicrographs. One un-timed break is allowed during the examination. The examination is given in English.
Will special hardware or software be needed for the test? The examination requires a reliable, high-speed Internet connection. Review the system requirements tab for details.
Once the test is purchased, how is it accessed? About one week before examination week begins, the test administrator will receive e-mail notification that a link to the exam, titled “2020 MCCKAP Examination,” has been added to his/her MySCCM.org webpage. This email also will contain the system requirements for the examination and instructions on how to enroll fellows. Please note that all examination information will be sent to the e-mail address provided when ordering the test.
How are fellows enrolled in the test? Once the test administrator successfully logs in to MySCCM.org and accesses the link to the examination, he/she will be brought to the Test Administration webpage. On this webpage, each fellow’s name and corresponding e-mail address must be entered. From this webpage, the test administrator can send each fellow an e-mail containing the login information for the test. Test dates and times are set at the discretion of administrators and are scheduled outside of the examination link. Fellows within a program do not need to take the test simultaneously; hence, the login emails can be sent as needed.
How is the test administered? All examinations should be administered in a proctored environment, a setting that will best prepare participants for the subspecialty board examination.
Will there be technical assistance available during exam week? Yes. Technical assistance will be available between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday, during the examination timeframe. The phone number and e-mail address of technical support personnel will be sent to test administrators.
How will I receive results? Test administrators can track fellows’ progress throughout the examination from the Test Administration webpage. This webpage will also display the preliminary and final results as they become available. Preliminary reports can be accessed immediately after completion of the test. These results may be printed, sent to an e-mail address, or both. Final results will be available approximately five weeks after examination week.
What information is included in the preliminary reports? Preliminary reports include a comprehensive score, as well as scores by knowledge area or category. These results are considered preliminary until the key is validated by the MCCKAP Committee, which will occur shortly after the examination closes. Validation is an important step, ensuring that items with questionable performance statistics are reviewed before final scores are calculated. Generally, few items are affected by the key validation so the preliminary results should closely approximate the final results.
What are the start and end dates and times to take the exam? The 2020 MCCKAP examination will be available beginning at 9:00 a.m. Central Time on March 10, 2020, until 9:00 p.m. Central Time on March 17, 2020. If a conflict prohibits taking the examination during the identified period, contact SCCM Customer Service at +1 847 827-6888 to discuss your needs.
