Hosted International Critical Care Examination

The hosted International Critical Care Examination is an assessment tool for international sites. With 100 questions tailored to an international audience and that cover myriad critical care topics, the hosted examination provides sites a chance to not only explore learners’ knowledge base following administration of the Multiprofessional Critical Care Review: Adult hosted course but also to provide further learning opportunities with robust rationales and references available. Delivered during a 2.5-hour examination window, the examination allows the site host to access learner scores through a hosted training portal.

To allow your learners access to the examination, you must enter their information into SCCM’s Online Learning Director Portal. Log in to your MySCCM account before administering the examination. If you do not have your login information, use the Forgot Username or Forgot Password link on the MySCCM login page to retrieve it.

After logging in to your MySCCM account, click the Director Resource link located in the upper right-hand portion of your profile page. This link will take you to the SCCM Online Learning Director Portal. Once in the portal, use the drop-down menu in the Create New Course box to select and create your course.

To enroll learners, search for them in the Find Your Students search engine. Enter their first name, last name and, if available, email address, and click the Search for Student button. Check the results for your learner. Once you find the learner in the list, use the pull-down menu to fill out the Post Graduate Year and Specialty fields. Once you have filled in those fields, click the Enroll button. If you cannot locate your learner in the results or no results are found, use the Create New Student button.

On the Create New Student screen, fill in your learner’s First Name, Last Name, Profession, and Email, and click the Create Account and Email Student button. This will add the learner to the Current Students list and send an email informing the learner that they are enrolled in the examination, providing a link to log in to their MySCCM account, and displaying their SCCM Customer ID.

Once you have added all your learners to the Current Students list, they are granted access to the examination. By entering their information into your Current Students list, you have prompted the system to create access to the examination that will be active throughout the testing window.

On the day of the examination, learners should open their email containing the link to their MySCCM account and their Customer ID. They should click the link to go to the MySCCM login page and enter the Customer ID shown in the email.

For the password field:

• If learners already have a MySCCM account, they can enter their existing password.
• If they do not have a MySCCM account, the password field defaults to the learner’s last name, using the case as entered by the administrator, plus the number 1. For example, if a learner’s last name is Sullivan, the password is Sullivan1. If a learner’s last name was entered as sullivan, the password is sullivan1.
• If a learner’s last name has fewer than 7 characters, use 1’s to fill out the password field until a total of 7 characters are entered. For example, if a learner’s last name is Smith, then the password would be Smith11. If the learner’s last name was entered as Smith, then the password would be smith11.
• If you are unable to log in the learner, please use the Forgot Username or Forgot Password link on the MySCCM login page.

Once learners are logged in to their MySCCM page, they should click the My Learning link. In My Learning, there will be a link for the examination. This link will take the learner to the examination.

Learners have 2.5 hours to complete the entire 100-question examination.

It is recommended that a proctor be present at all times during examination administration. The proctor must ensure that examinees work independently. Spoken or written communication between learners during the examination is prohibited. If this occurs, the proctor must disqualify those involved and verify that they log out of the examination immediately and leave the site. The proctor must ensure that examination materials are not printed or copied and that learners do not attempt to email them to anyone. Both actions are a serious breach of examination security.

While it is recommended that all examinations be taken in a proctored environment, , the proctoring milieu will be left to the discretion of the administrator. If a remote, virtual examination administration is desired, administrators should remind learners that they are expected to abide by the honor system.

Learners must submit their examination before they can view the preliminary results. On examination completion, a detailed examination summary is available for learners to either view or download by clicking the Examination summary report button on the main examination page. This will open a page that displays the raw overall score, including raw score breakdowns by category, and the raw overall peer average for the examination. Learners can also view references for questions that they answered incorrectly in each section. This report can be downloaded as a PDF and sent to the administrator.
