PCCM Audio Summary - April 2025

The April 2025 issue of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) features five original research articles investigating a sedation and ventilator weaning bundle in infants with bronchiolitis, outcomes in lower versus higher blood glucose targets in hyperglycemic children with neurologic diagnoses, utility of daily blood cultures in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) patients, implementation of a fluid management bundle in critically ill children with respiratory failure, and comparison of central versus peripheral venoarterial ECMO in patients with septic shock. Original research articles explore changes in caregiver employment for children requiring invasive ventilation, the effect of family presence on patient delirium, the use of conservative oxygenation strategies in children with variable oxygen saturation indices, the utility of airway occlusion pressures to estimate inspiratory effort, the use meropenem plasma concentrations and pharmacodynamic exposure metrics in children with septic shock, and the effect of pediatric ICU hospitalization on children’s psychological and behavioral responses.
