Contributing to Critical Connections

Submit Feature Articles
Most Critical Connections articles are invitation based, but Critical Connections will accept unsolicited articles related to critical care. Critical Connections accepts queries from members and nonmembers, though members will be given preference. Interested authors must submit a summary of the proposed article (no more than one page) as well as a CV. Submissions also may include a recommendation from an SCCM member, but it is not required.

Queries will be considered within two weeks after submission. All interested authors will receive a response within that time. Submit queries to criticalconnections@sccm.org.

Contribute to Vital News
Critical Connections welcomes timely news releases for publication in its Vital News section, which focuses on industry news. See Vital News guidelines and policies. Acceptable topics include:

  • New products and services
  • New techniques and applications
  • Meeting announcements and events
  • New research studies and surveys
  • Industry trends in critical care medicine

All releases will be evaluated as to their relevancy to SCCM members and the critical care community. In addition, the editorial team will review the topic’s timeliness and newsworthiness. Critical Connections will use releases on a space-available basis; advertising is not a consideration in selecting press releases for publication. All editorial is subject to editing for length, content and accuracy to fit within the style of the publication. Announcements should be 100 words to 300 words. Verbiage should be brief and should not include promotional or evaluative assertions, nor should it read like ad copy. When submitting more than one announcement, indicate your preferred order of publication. Please include company name, product or service name and press contact information.

Submit Vital News items to criticalconnections@sccm.org.

For more information about submitting to Critical Connections contact the managing editor at mnielsen@sccm.org or +1 847 827-7405.
