Critical Care Medicine is the premier peer-reviewed, scientific publication in critical care. Directed towards specialists who treat patients in the ICU and CCU, including chest physicians, surgeons, pediatricians pharmacists/pharmacologists, anesthesiologists, critical care nurses, and other healthcare professionals, CCM covers all aspects of acute and emergency care for the critically ill or injured patient. Each issue presents critical care practitioners with clinical breakthroughs that lead to better patient care, the latest news on promising research, and advances in equipment and techniques. Readers can take advantage of CME opportunities available in each issue and view newly accepted articles online ahead of print.

Led by Editor-in-Chief Joseph E. Parrillo, MD, FCCM, from Cooper Health Institute in Camden, New Jersey, the editorial board is comprised of internationally recognized researchers and practitioners.  In 2009, Critical Care Medicine was recognized by the Special Library Association as one of the 100 most influential journals in biology and medicine over the last 100 years. 

Critical Care Medicine received and impact factor of 6.254 for 2010 and an immediacy index of 2.695. It maintains its position as the premier peer-reviewed journal among those that publish primarily (more than 50%) critical care articles.
