Undergraduate Corner

Welcome to the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Undergraduate Corner.

Critical care presents exciting healthcare opportunities and challenges as each critical care team member brings knowledge and skills specific to their chosen discipline.  Undergraduate students within healthcare disciplines are engaged in gaining mastery of profession-specific content while deciding the focal direction for their professional practice.

Multiple disciplines are represented within the critical care team.  When you think about critical care practice, you may visualize a tree with each limb representing a discipline or medical specialty.  Major branches include anesthesiology, neurology, nursing, pediatrics, pharmacy, pulmonology, surgery, etc.  Members of the critical care team created their personal recollections of their journey to critical care practice as there are numerous paths to this challenging practice area.

This page will also contain links to a variety of learning resources that have been selected to guide your clinical experiences and facilitate success in critical care.  These resources will be posted in Spring 2012.
