Nursing

Rhonda D’Agostino, MSN, ACNP, CEN, CCRN
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
New York, New York

Ms. D’Agostino is a board-certified acute care nurse practitioner.  She began her career shortly after completing an associate of applied science degree in nursing.  As she worked as a registered nurse, she quickly decided to continue her training in the nursing profession.

While juggling the duties necessary for the bedside care of patients in a medical-surgical ward, Ms. D’Agostino attended college full time in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in nursing science (BSN).  Taking advantage of her practical nursing experience soon allowed her to care for sicker patients and paved the way towards a transition into the emergency department and intensive care unit (ICU).

Upon completion of her BSN degree, Ms. D’Agostino decided to work full time in a level 1 trauma emergency department.  In time, she acquired the requisite competency in both emergency nursing and critical care to become a certified emergency nurse (CEN) and a critical care registered nurse (CCRN), qualifying her to become a nurse educator.  Despite her successes, and while continuing to work as a nurse educator, she then sought to enhance her nursing studies by enrolling in master’s level classes to become an acute care nurse practitioner.

After much dedication and diligent work, Ms. D’Agostino was able to secure a position as a nurse practitioner in the intensive care unit, where she provides direct patient care to critically ill, complex (multi-organ) patients in an intensive care setting, as well as providing critical care consultation and rapid response team evaluation.
