ICU Benchmarking Tools

The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) is the largest multiprofessional organization dedicated to ensuring excellence and consistency in the practice of critical care. As part of this goal, the Society is committed to providing critical care providers with resources to better manage their professional growth. SCCM has published Compensation of Critical Care Professionals, Critical Care Units: A Descriptive Analysis, and Job Descriptions and Contracts in Critical Care. These three books contained compensation and benefit survey data, survey results offering a snapshot of critical care units nationwide, and job descriptions for various critical care job titles, respectively. Each publication allowed the critical care professional to evaluate his/her career progress and compare his/her intensive care unit (ICU) with other facilities across the nation. SCCM plans to update these books regularly to provide current data and allow tracking of changes across time.  Check out the webpage on ICU Benchmarking Tools.

Request for Research Surveys

SCCM does not share email addresses with other organizations.  However, the Executive Committee may approve a request to support another organization's or group's research activities by email or other means, provided these activities are for scientific research purposes.  Researchers who plan to survey SCCM members must submit a written request detailing the research activity and rationale for conducting the study for review by SCCM's Research Committee.  Check out the Request for Research Survey webpage for the rules and regulations for doing an SCCM survey.
