Purpose

To financially support and encourage institutional use of the Paragon Critical Care Quality Implementation Program, helping critical care teams to improve the quality and safety of care provision in their units.

Financial support will underwrite program expenses and reduce the cost of participation by hospitals without access to adequate resources. Program expenses that may be underwritten by contributors include project management, peer-to-peer coaching, collaborative engagements and materials development.

By increasing adoption rates of Paragon, larger populations of critically ill patients will benefit from higher quality of care.

Guidelines

1. Funders may make general contributions to a restricted fund that will subsidize in part or in full Paragon events. These events may be individual hospital projects, system wide initiatives or limited engagement collaborative improvement programs.
2. The fund, managed by SCCM, will provide support to hospital, system and other institutions through an application process with special consideration being given to public hospitals, those who provide substantial charitable care, those with immediate patient safety gaps, military hospitals, and/or critical access hospitals.
3. Funders may also direct their support to specific hospitals, systems or projects.
4. At the funder's request, their contribution will be appropriately acknowledged.
5. While funders may participate in the identification and selection of hospitals and institutions, they may not participate or in any influence or control individual Paragon projects and their content.

Funding Options

1. Opt to sponsor as many hospitals as desired designating regions of the country, specific individual hospitals or hospitals within a health care system. Funding may be provided over the course of the multi-year engagement of the Paragon coaching team with the host institution.
2. Opt to sponsor broadly in which case SCCM will choose the hospital from a list of applicants.

Suggested Funding

 Single Hospital $ 35,000
 Small Health System (approximately 3 - 6 hospitals $200,000
2 Year Regional Collaborative Event (up to 25 hospitals) $500,000
