Program Overview:
The ICU is under intense pressure to find solutions to manage the increasing clinical and financial ICU stressors which is a result of an aging demographic and the shortage of intensivists.  This webcast explores the role of telemedicine in enhancing the quality of ICU clinical performance and providing patient safety. Telemedicine is the use of video-conferencing and technology to deliver patient care.  It is emerging as a way to optimize the bedside medical team (physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, pharmacists) and better meet the needs of critically ill patients.  We explore telemedicine through the use of case studies and real life experience.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this webcast participants will be able to:

  • Discuss case studies that exemplify performance enhancement
  • Discuss the evolving role of telemedicine in the ICU
  • Identify strategies that can be used to enhance ICU quality of care and safety
