Program Overview:
This webcast will present state-of-the-art noninvasive and invasive strategies for the treatment of hypoxemic respiratory insufficiency and failure in children. Important content areas for this session will include the choices of equipment, interfaces, and settings for noninvasive ventilatory support, strategies for optimizing ventilation-perfusion matching and lung recruitment in children ventilated with conventional invasive mechanical ventilator modes, and current strategies for using non-conventional ventilator modes (e.g. APRV, HFOV) in the management of refractory hypoxemia. 

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this webcast participants will be able to:

  • Identify indications and approaches to the use of non-invasive mechanical ventilator devices for the management of pediatric hypoxemic respiratory insufficiency.
  • Identify indications and approaches to the use of conventional invasive mechanical ventilator devices/modes for the management of pediatric hypoxemic respiratory failure.
  • Identify indications and approaches to the use of non-conventional invasive mechanical ventilator devices/modes for the management of pediatric hypoxemic respiratory failure (e.g. APRV, HFOV).
