
Program Overview
The prevalence of post-intensive care syndrome (PICS), sometimes referred to as post-traumatic stress disorder, can be as high as 20% or more. With more than four million people admitted to U.S. hospitals every year, this is a significant public health issue. As a result of the growing knowledge related to the physical, cognitive, and mental health impairments that intensive care unit (ICU) patients and their family members may experience, this webcast is designed to increase awareness of these consequences and help improve outcomes. Drs. Davidson and Bienvenu are leading researchers in stress disorder processes and will provide participants with methods to recognize this syndrome in both patients and family members.
