This webcast will review current advances in oral anticoagulation, describe challenges with their use and provide insights on how to manage critically ill patients who are receiving them. Vitamin K antagonists such as warfarin have been the mainstay for chronic anticoagulation for more than 50 years. Recently, new oral anticoagulants, which have unique characteristics, have been introduced. Because of the common use of anticoagulation therapy, clinicians need to be familiar and adapt their practice approaches when newer anticoagulants are present.
