Congratulations to Society of Critical Care Medicine member Martha A.Q. Curley, RN, PhD, FAAN, for her election to the National Academy of Medicine. This high honor recognizes individuals in the fields of health and medicine who have made major contributions to the advancement of the medical sciences, healthcare and public health.
Dr. Curley certainly has demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to service, greatly influencing pediatric critical care through her work. She has served as the principal investigator on several major clinical trials, including the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute-funded RESTORE trial, and mentors clinical scientists around the world. Her collaborative research has developed tools to assess critically ill children, including the Braden Q Scale, State Behavioral Scale, and Withdrawal Assessment Tool.
