This article highlights the Society's resources related to multiprofessional education.

One of the aims of Critical Connections is to keep the membership informed about the Society's myriad activities and initiatives. Toward that end, a different Business Line leader will use this space each issue to provide updates about the undertakings and priorities of their respective Business Line.

The Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) is organized into Business Lines (as described at www.sccm.org/membership), with education as a major priority. The Board Prep Business Line encompasses several groups dedicated to providing the multiprofessional education we all seek. This includes the Adult and Pediatric Multiprofessional Critical Care Board Review Courses (MCCBRC), as well as our International Board Review Course, the Board Review Item Writing committees, the Adult and Pediatric Multidisciplinary Critical Care Knowledge Assessment Programs (MCCKAP), the Adult and Pediatric Self-Assessment Books, the Adult and Pediatric Advanced Knowledge Assessment tools, and the Post Graduate and Fellowship Education committee. The Business Line is directed by SCCM staff partners Lynn Retford with guidance from SCCM Council members Greg S. Martin, MD, MSc, FCCM, and Dan Brown, MD, PhD, FCCM.

This year, the MCCKAP exam was administered to nearly 1,000 critical care fellows across North America in February and March and is recognized as the standard for assessing fellowship knowledge in critical care.

Also of note, the Adult MCCBRC will take place August 11 to 15, 2015, and the Pediatric MCCBRC will take place August 9 to 13, 2016, both in Chicago, Illinois, USA.  MCCBRC sets the standard in board preparation with a comprehensive review that prepares fellows and attending physicians for the certification and recertification examinations in critical care.

Additionally, the Advanced Knowledge Assessment in Pediatric Critical Care is set to release a third question set this summer, providing a 100-item self-assessment with maintenance of certification (MOC) credit for diplomates of the American Board of Pediatrics. This is in addition to new editions of the Pediatric and Adult Self-Assessment Books set to come out this year!

More information about the Board Prep group and all the SCCM committees is available at www.sccm.org/membership.
